Legal basis
We process this data under legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Our interest is to operate, improve, and monitor the performance of this service. This processing does not override your fundamental rights — we do not profile individuals, make automated decisions, or use the data for advertising.
Aggregated industry insights
We may derive and publish anonymised, aggregated statistics — for example: “Barcelona is the most searched destination from Denmark in June.” This type of data cannot identify any individual and is not personal data under GDPR (Recital 26). It may be shared with or licensed to travel industry partners.
Individual records are never sold or shared with third parties.
Cookies
We do not use cookies, local storage, or any other technology that stores data in your browser. No cookie banner is shown because none is required.
Third-party services
- ip-api.com — Your IP address is transmitted to this service (operated in the US) solely to determine your approximate country and city. The IP address is not stored by us after the lookup — only the derived country/city/region is recorded. This constitutes a transfer of personal data to a third country (USA) under GDPR Article 46. See their privacy policy.
- Open-Meteo — Weather data is fetched using your search coordinates. No personal data is sent. See their terms.
- Simply.com — Our hosting provider in Denmark. Data is stored on servers within the EU.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of data we hold about you
- Deletion — request erasure of your data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
Because we do not use persistent identifiers (no cookies, no accounts), we cannot automatically link historical records to a specific person. For requests, contact us at hi@weathertogowhen.com and include the approximate date, city you searched for, and your country — we will do our best to locate and action the relevant records.
